The age Ashton Meyer is. His first rejection made him cry. He kept knocking.
Ashton Meyer is eleven years old and lives in York Region, Ontario. This spring, his dad noticed older neighbors struggling to get their bins to the curb and suggested Ashton help out. Ashton took the idea and ran further with it, deciding to go door to door offering to clean people's grimy garbage bins for a flat ten dollars, while his mom encouraged him to film the whole thing.
It did not start smoothly. His very first rejection left him in tears. But he kept knocking, and within weeks the no's turned into yeses. By May he had launched Your Bin Cleaning, and it now serves between thirty and forty regular clients around his neighborhood.
Then the internet found him. The videos his mom encouraged him to make took off, earning Ashton more than 100,000 followers, with his most viral clip passing a million likes. An eleven-year-old with a hose and a simple offer had built both a real service and an audience.
"His first rejection made him cry. He knocked on the next door anyway."
It is easy to smile at a kid cleaning bins, but the instinct underneath it is the one that builds companies. See a need on your own block, make an offer, survive the first no, and do the work well enough that people talk. He is running the same playbook a founder runs, just at eleven.
This is the youngest version of what ANF covers. Do not wait for permission or a perfect start. See the need, make the offer, and keep knocking after the first no. Ashton did it at eleven.
The first door said no. He built a business on all the ones after it.
