He started DJing at 10. He's 18 now. For the past three months, he's been booked every week without exception. Detroit didn't discover DJ Hit — he earned it, one set at a time.
Who are you, and what are you building right now?
"My name is David, also known as DJ Hit. I started DJing when I was 10 years old and now I am the best 18 year-old DJ in the city. Over my last nine years of DJing I have learned so much. For the past three months, I have been booked every single week of the month for more than three days. I am currently building two businesses which are very successful. Now I'm working on getting into clubs — and one day, hoping I can own my own."

What was the moment you decided to actually go for it?
"My year of 2024 was such a great year. I had so many good experiences — including working with the NFL — and there was a moment when I thought about quitting DJing. That moment changed everything. I knew how much bigger I could become and what potential I had."
What does Metro Detroit mean to your work?
"Detroit is where my story began, where I learned how to hustle and why I am the person I am today. Detroit is the first city I was able to leave a mark on. Throughout the years I have embraced so many different types of people, leaving memories that will last forever."

What's something people your age get wrong about what you do?
"Nothing happens overnight. People my age don't understand that it takes years of dedication for you to finally get large recognition for your work. 'Doing Good Business' — meaning leaving a good impression on people and making them feel like they can always come back or refer you for more opportunities."

What's next — what does the near future look like for you?
"In the future, I foresee greater accomplishments, hosting bigger events and more opportunities to impact the youth. I will become known not only by people in my state but around the country. I can see myself DJing a Rolling Loud concert."
