National scholarship decided by essay, open to any undergraduate
Detroit entrepreneur Ali Kain just launched the Ali Kain Scholarship for Entrepreneurs, a 1,000 dollar national award for undergraduate students who are preparing to build their own companies. It's open to students at any college in the country, with an application deadline of April 15, 2027, and a winner named that May.
What makes it different is how you win it. There's no minimum GPA and no transcript to polish. The award is decided by an essay, where applicants write about their goals, the obstacles they have faced, and what they actually want to build. It rewards the thing a founder needs most, a clear reason why, not a grade point average.
That choice says a lot about who Ali Kain is. He built his own career across technology, logistics, and shipping, coming up by spotting gaps other people missed and working through the obstacles in front of him. Now he's putting his own name and money behind students trying to do the same, from Detroit, for the whole country.
