At 19, Victoria Beardsley already moves like someone who knows exactly what she wants to say. A storyteller working across film and photography, she is building her name behind the camera while carving a path toward screenwriting and directing.
Who are you, and what are you building?
"I'm a passionate 19 year old storyteller that uses filmmaking and photography to showcase my vision. I'm working toward building my brand as a photographer while also creating a path to become a professional screenwriter and director in the film industry."
What was the moment you decided to go for it?
"I've always been a creative kid, but I got into photography and screenwriting during COVID. I worked toward and completed an associate's degree in cinematic arts at the same time I got my high school diploma, to set myself up for a four year university. The beginning of 2026 is when I took a step out of my comfort zone to really start building the life I want in my career."

What does Detroit mean to your work?
"Detroit is culture. Detroit holds many different people from different backgrounds with stories that want to be heard. As someone whose work is highly driven by storytelling, I can appreciate the beauty in those stories told through this city. To me, Detroit is a reminder that the most powerful stories aren't always the loudest. They're found in everyday moments with everyday people."
What do people your age get wrong about the work?
"People my age don't always understand what it means to truly be a creative. They tend to think that going down a creative career path, like photography or filmmaking, is an easy way out of a regular job. When it really is having dedication to sticking with what you love to do and doing anything to make your dreams come to life, just like any other passion."

What does the near future look like for you?
"As I continue to build my brand and network with those around me, I will continue to follow God's path for me as He guides me through His plan for my life, including my career."
